About
The Champion Course is one of three 18-hole courses at Phoenix Golf Resort, a 54-hole resort in Lương Sơn about 38 km west of Hanoi. The resort lies in a valley of limestone karsts that the club describes as 'Ha Long Bay on land'. The Champion Course was designed by Song Ho of Korea's Songho Golf Design Group and hosted the first World Masters Vietnam in November 2007. At 7,486 yards from the black tees it is the longest of the three, a par 72 whose fairways run between limestone outcrops; the 14th offers a choice of two fairways and the 18th finishes towards the clubhouse. The resort has a clubhouse with locker rooms, a restaurant serving Vietnamese and Korean food, a pro shop, and an on-site condo hotel and villas with indoor and outdoor pools. A new clubhouse opened and all three courses were renovated before the resort's Phoenix Reborn tournament in early 2026.

Hole 1 · Par 4
Straight par 4 with bunkers on the left of the fairway and right of the green, and trees down both sides.
Aim at the middle of the fairway, away from the left-side bunkers.
Hole 2 · Par 4
Long, straight par 4 with a pond outside the left edge of the hole and bunkers around the green.
Accuracy matters more than length off this tee.
Hole 5 · Par 4
Par 4 with a creek down the right side, a pond left near the green and bunkers short-left of the green. The fairway narrows towards the green.
One of the hardest holes: hit the fairway first.
Hole 6 · Par 4
Long par 4 whose fairway curves gently, with a creek down the left and bunkers beside the green.
No need to force it: the club suggests playing for the green in three.
Hole 7 · Par 5
Par 5 with a creek along the left side, bunkers on the right of the fairway and to the left of the green.
It plays downhill, but the club warns of hazards on both sides.
Hole 8 · Par 4
Wide par 4 that bends left near the green, with a bunker on the right short of the green.
Judge the approach carefully to stay out of the green-side sand.
Hole 9 · Par 3
Par 3 played across a lake to a green with bunkers on its left side.
Commit to the carry, then take care with the green's slopes.
Hole 10 · Par 4
Straight par 4 with a waste bunker just in front of the tees, bunkers on the right of the fairway and a creek down the left.
Carry the sand off the tee and find the fairway.
Hole 11 · Par 5
Long, straight par 5 with bunkers on the right of the fairway. The small green sits beyond a narrow neck at the top of the hole.
Choose a lay-up spot that leaves a full shot to the green.
Hole 12 · Par 3
Par 3 played along a narrow strip of land with water on both sides to a green with bunkers left and right.
Aim for the centre of the narrow green.
Hole 13 · Par 4
Par 4 with a lake along the left of the tee shot and bunkers on the left side of the fairway.
Keep the drive away from the lake, then attack the flag.
Hole 14 · Par 4
Par 4 with two fairways to choose from, split by trees and a creek. Bunkers sit in the left fairway and around the green.
Pick your route by the pin position and your shot shape.
Hole 15 · Par 3
Long par 3 with a creek down the left side and bunkers to the left of the green.
Allow for the wind and play to the middle of the green.
Hole 16 · Par 4
Par 4 with a creek and small pond to the left near the tees and bunkers to the left of the green.
Hold your line off the tee; the club notes cliffs on both sides.
Hole 17 · Par 5
Long par 5 with a waste area left of the tees and bunkers down the left of the fairway and around the green.
Keep it straight: the narrow green is guarded front and back.
Hole 18 · Par 4
Par 4 finishing hole with a creek on the left near the tees, a pond left of the upper fairway and bunkers at the green.
Keep the approach clear of the front bunker, as the club advises.
