About
The Phoenix Course is one of three 18-hole courses at Phoenix Golf Resort, a 54-hole resort in Lương Sơn about 38 km west of Hanoi. The resort lies in a valley of limestone karsts that the club describes as 'Ha Long Bay on land'. Designed by Ronald Fream, the Phoenix Course is a par 72 of 7,214 yards from the black tees and 5,010 yards from the reds. The club presents it as the gentlest of the three, with par 5s at the 3rd, 6th, 12th and 13th and a 475-yard par 4 at the 9th, the hardest hole on the front nine. The resort has a clubhouse with locker rooms, a restaurant serving Vietnamese and Korean food, a pro shop, and an on-site condo hotel and villas with indoor and outdoor pools. A new clubhouse opened and all three courses were renovated before the resort's Phoenix Reborn tournament in early 2026.

Hole 1 · Par 4
Par 4 played from tees set between two ponds, one either side. The fairway runs straight up to the green, with a bunker on the left side.
Carry the ponds and aim down the middle, away from the left-side bunker.
Hole 2 · Par 4
Straight par 4 with a creek running along the right of the tee shot and trees down both sides. Small bunkers sit beside the fairway and green.
Aim left of centre to stay clear of the creek on the right.
Hole 3 · Par 5
Long, narrow par 5 that runs straight to the green. A rocky waste area sits just left of the tees, with bunkers on the left of the fairway further up.
Play it as a three-shot hole, as the club advises.
Hole 5 · Par 4
Straight par 4 from a long tee complex. Bunkers sit in the left half of the fairway and to the right of the approach near the green.
Place the drive right of the fairway bunkers to open up the approach.
Hole 6 · Par 5
Long par 5 with a creek down the whole left side and a pond to the right of the green. Bunkers sit on both sides of the fairway.
Stay right of the creek and choose a lay-up that keeps the green-side pond out of play.
Hole 8 · Par 4
Par 4 from tees beside a pond, with the fairway running straight up between trees to a green guarded by bunkers on the right.
Find the fairway first, as the club advises, rather than cutting the corner.
Hole 9 · Par 4
Long, fairly straight par 4 with bunkers along the right of the fairway and a pond to the left of the green.
The hardest hole on the front nine: play for the middle of the green.
