About
Royal Golf Course is in Yên Thắng, Ninh Bình, about 100 km south of Hanoi, near Tam Cốc, Tràng An and Bái Đính. The courses wind between limestone outcrops and old trees beside Yên Thắng lake. There are two 18-hole par-72 courses. The King Course opened in 2010 as Ninh Bình's first golf course and plays around the lake, with water on several holes including a par 3 to an island green. The Queen Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus II, threads through natural rock formations on Zoysia turf. The clubhouse sits at the highest point of the site, with a restaurant, bar and pro shop. There is a driving range with mats and grass tees, and the on-site The Five Villas & Resort offers stay-and-play packages.

King Front Hole 1 · Par 4
Gently curving par 4 played from tees at the bottom; fairway bunkers sit on the right in the driving zone, a rock outcrop on the left, and two bunkers lie behind the green.
Favour the left half of the fairway for the best angle in.
King Front Hole 2 · Par 3
Par 3 to a green on a small island surrounded by water, with bunkers hugging its left and front-left edges.
Take enough club to carry the water; the middle of the green is safe.
King Front Hole 3 · Par 4
Short par 4 bending left towards the green, with trees lining the right of the tee area and bunkers either side of the green front.
A long iron off the tee leaves a short pitch; avoid the greenside bunkers.
King Front Hole 4 · Par 5
Long par 5 with a lake running along the left for the second half of the hole and cutting in across the fairway; a long bunker sits right, and bunkers surround the green.
Plan the lay-up around the water; the green sits above the fairway, so add a club.
King Front Hole 5 · Par 3
Long par 3 with a pond in front of the tees and a chain of bunkers down the right of the green.
Aim at the left of the green, away from the bunkers on the right.
King Front Hole 6 · Par 5
The longest hole: a long, straight par 5 with trees down the left and scattered bunkers along both sides, plus bunkers either side of the green.
Three solid shots; keep clear of the green-side bunkers left and right.
King Front Hole 7 · Par 4
Par 4 with trees and bunkers down the right of the fairway and a pond short and right of the green; a bunker lies behind the green.
Lay up short of the pond with your drive for a full approach.
King Front Hole 8 · Par 4
Long, straight par 4 with trees down the left, a fairway bunker left and a bunker on the right of the green.
Drive down the right-centre to avoid the trees on the left.
King Front Hole 9 · Par 4
Long, straight par 4 with trees along the right, a fairway bunker right, a small pond on the right short of the green and a bunker front-left of the green.
Keep the drive left of centre, away from the bunker and trees.
King Back Hole 10 · Par 4
Par 4 starting over a rocky waste area in front of the tees, with a stream running up the left and a long bunker along the right of the green.
Carry the rocks off the tee and stay right of the stream.
King Back Hole 11 · Par 5
Par 5 with water running along the right for the last 250 yards, long bunkers between fairway and water, and the green tucked left at the end.
Play the lay-up left of centre; the water waits right all the way in.
King Back Hole 12 · Par 4
Demanding par 4 with a pond across the fairway in the driving zone and water along the right towards the green; bunkers sit left and behind the green.
Choose a club that stays short of, or clearly carries, the pond.
King Back Hole 13 · Par 4
Par 4 with a line of trees down the left, a fairway bunker left and the fairway turning right to a green guarded by bunkers short right.
A drive to the right-centre opens up the green.
King Back Hole 14 · Par 3
Short par 3 with water along the left of the hole and bunkers ringing the green.
Aim at the middle; anything left risks the water.
King Back Hole 15 · Par 4
Par 4 with trees down the right and two bunkers on the left, one in the fairway and one short of the green.
Favour the right-centre to stay clear of the left-hand bunkers.
Queen Front Hole 1 · Par 4
Long par 4 with water on the left near the tees and a fairway that bends left past rock outcrops towards a green with a waste area on its left.
Drive down the right-centre to stay away from the water and rocks.
Queen Front Hole 2 · Par 3
Par 3 played over a field of exposed rock to a green with a small bunker at its front right and rough ground around it.
Take enough club to clear the rocks; the right side of the green is best.
Queen Front Hole 3 · Par 4
Long par 4 from tees at the bottom right, with rock outcrops along the right and a green with waste ground behind it.
Find the fairway; the approach to this green is the hardest on the nine.
Queen Front Hole 4 · Par 5
Par 5 curving left around a lake on the left, with fairway bunkers on the right and bunkers either side of the green.
Keep the drive right of the bunkers on the left line; the lake takes anything pulled.
Queen Front Hole 5 · Par 4
Short par 4 with water left of the tees, rock outcrops in the fairway approaching the green and a long bunker along the left of the green.
Place the drive in the middle; the rocks block the direct line to the green.
Queen Front Hole 6 · Par 4
Par 4 with rock outcrops down the left, water on the right in the driving zone and a bunker short left of the green.
Drive left-centre to avoid the water on the right.
Queen Front Hole 7 · Par 4
Short par 4 with water down the right near the tees, rocks on the left and bunkers on both sides of the fairway.
An iron off the tee leaves a short approach to an undulating green.
Queen Front Hole 8 · Par 3
Long par 3 to a large green with a long bunker down its left side and rock outcrops short of the green.
Aim right of centre to avoid the long bunker on the left.
Queen Front Hole 9 · Par 5
Long par 5 with rock and rough down the left of the tees and a fairway that turns sharply left at the end to a green tucked behind a corner.
Lay up to the corner for a clear look at the tucked green.
