About
Tam Dao Golf & Resort sits at the foot of the Tam Dao mountain range, about 65 km north-west of central Hanoi and 45 km from Noi Bai airport. The first nine opened in 2005 and the full 18 holes followed in January 2007. The par-72 course was designed by IMG and plays to 7,169 yards from the gold tees, with four sets of tees in all. Streams and lakes come into play on most holes, and Paspalum Sea Isle 2000 covers the fairways and greens. The fifth, with a lake along its right side, is the hardest hole on the card. The resort has a clubhouse with a restaurant serving Vietnamese, European-Asian and Korean dishes, an 18-bay driving range with short-game practice areas, and hotel rooms and villas for overnight stays.

Hole 1 · Par 5
Straight par 5. A stream runs down the right, cuts across the fairway in the second-shot zone and continues down the left. A bunker sits right of centre in the drive zone; bunkers guard the green.
Check the carry over the crossing stream before choosing your lay-up club.
Hole 2 · Par 3
Short par 3 to a green with a pair of bunkers tight against its right side and trees on both flanks.
Favour the left half of the green to stay clear of the right-hand bunkers.
Hole 3 · Par 4
Par 4 with bunkers on both sides of the landing area. A lake runs along the left from about 150 yards out to the green, which has bunkers in front.
Keep the approach right of the flag; the lake hugs the left of the green.
Hole 4 · Par 5
Long par 5 with water along the left side for most of its length. Bunkers sit in the middle of the fairway in both landing zones and the green is guarded by bunkers and water.
Plan three shots; position each one away from the water on the left.
Hole 5 · Par 4
Stroke index 1. A lake runs the full length of the right side; bunkers sit left of the fairway and around the back-left of the green.
Aim down the left-centre; anything leaking right finds the lake.
Hole 6 · Par 4
Dogleg left with a cluster of bunkers at the corner of the fairway. More bunkers and trees surround the green.
Play to the right side of the corner rather than flying the bunkers.
Hole 7 · Par 4
A lake sits right of the fairway from the drive zone all the way to the green. Bunkers on the left pinch the landing area and front-left of the green.
Favour the left off the tee but stay short of the bunkers.
Hole 8 · Par 3
Par 3 with water along the entire right side and bunkers between the green and the water.
Miss left if you miss; right is wet.
Hole 9 · Par 4
Water runs down the left side. Bunkers sit on both sides of the landing area and on the left and front of the green.
A drive down the right-centre keeps the water out of play.
Hole 10 · Par 5
Straight, tree-lined par 5 with a pond left of the tee area, scattered fairway bunkers and bunkers short-right of the green.
Keep it straight; the trees on both sides punish a wide drive.
Hole 11 · Par 4
Par 4 with a stream crossing just short of the green. Bunkers sit left of the fairway in the landing area and left of the green.
Take enough club on the approach to carry the stream.
Hole 12 · Par 3
Par 3 with a stream crossing just in front of the tees. The long, narrow green has bunkers along its right side.
The stream is a short carry; focus on missing the right-side bunkers.
Hole 13 · Par 4
Long par 4 with a stream crossing the fairway beyond the drive zone and a bunker right of centre. Bunkers guard the right of the green.
Keep the drive left of the fairway bunker and short of the stream.
Hole 14 · Par 4
A narrow stream runs down the right side through the drive zone. Bunkers sit on both sides of the fairway and one guards the front-left of the green.
Aim left-centre off the tee to keep the stream out of play.
Hole 15 · Par 5
Par 5 with a pond in front of the tees on the right and another lake along the right of the green. Bunkers sit left of the fairway.
Commit to the tee shot over the pond, then keep left of the lake near the green.
Hole 16 · Par 4
Water lies right of the tees and beyond the green on the right. Fairway bunkers sit left and right, with another bunker left of the green.
Split the fairway bunkers and approach from the left-centre.
Hole 17 · Par 3
The longest par 3, with water down the left and a large bunker short-left of the green.
Aim at the right half of the green; the trouble is all left.
Hole 18 · Par 4
Closing par 4 with water down the left from the tee and again left of the green. Bunkers sit on both sides of the fairway and beside the green.
Favour the right-centre off the tee to stay away from the water.
