IMG

IMG was founded in 1960 in Cleveland, Ohio, by the American lawyer Mark McCormack. Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus were IMG’s first clients. In golf course design, IMG has designed over 100 courses in 16 countries worldwide and has advised over 200 clubs through its golf consulting services. IMG Prestige is a reciprocal program featuring more than 150 courses across 40 countries. Its courses have won international design awards, and at the 2022 World Golf Awards, IMG Golf Course Design was recognized as Golf Course Designer of the Year. IMG has designed signature courses with Nick Faldo, Bernhard Langer, Colin Montgomerie, Ian Woosnam, Annika Sorenstam and Luke Donald. Paul Burley oversees IMG’s Golf Course Design business, and Steven McFarlane has more than 30 years of golf course design experience and has been a member of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects since 1990. Courses associated with IMG include Angkor Golf Resort in Siem Reap, designed by Faldo/IMG; Ile Aux Cerfs Golf Club in Mauritius, designed by Bernhard Langer and IMG; the Waterside course at Siam Country Club in Pattaya, designed by IMG; and Ananti Golf Club in Seoul, redesigned by IMG in 2010. Michael Pask of IMG has said that Colin Montgomerie and Ian Woosnam bring “a philosophy and a system of beliefs” to golf course design work. Brit Stenson of IMG Golf Course Design has said that the very best courses are “great routings on unusual or maybe even unique sites.”
